The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has selected El Paso Diablos DH Kyle Nichols as the Pointstreak Batter of the Week. This is Nichols’ second season as a Diablo.

The El Paso Diablos (6-11) were once again relying on the arm of pitcher David Whigham to get them back in the win column as he was going for his third straight win, but the Captains jumped on him early and never looked back en route to an 8-2 victory Monday night at the Fair Grounds Field.

Diablos tried to win their six straight game against Amarillo and inch their way back to the .500 mark, but the Sox and starting pitcher Travis Lawler had other plans as they thumped El Paso 14-2 Saturday night at Cohen Stadium.

After losing a thriller and the series to Shreveport-Bossier, the Diablos welcomed in Amarillo to Cohen Stadium. Entering the game the Diablos were 3-0 against the Sox and Friday night's outcome was no different as El Paso stifled the Sox for a 5-4 win.

The Diablos trailed by nine entering the bottom of the fifth, before scoring 11 straight runs to lead 14-12 heading into the top of the ninth inning. Pitcher Scott Vander Weg could not shut the door as the Captains scored three in the ninth, before pulling out a thrilling 17-15 win in 10 innings Thursday night at Cohen Stadium.

Diablos pitcher Cardoza Tucker was cruising through the game until the fourth inning where he ran into trouble. The right-handed pitcher gave up six runs in the inning and that was enough for the Captains to pull out a 9-6 victory over the Diablos Wednesday night at Cohen Stadium.

The El Paso Diablos have had an awful stretch of games where both their pitching and hitting had be non-existent, but tonight was a different story as both facets of their game came out to play as they destroyed Shreveport 21-6 Tuesday night at Cohen Stadium.

The Diablos looked to return home and end their three-game losing streak, but it was much of the same from the mound as El Paso allowed five first inning runs en route to a 12-4 loss at the hands of the Shreveport-Bossier Captains on Monday night at Cohen Stadium.

The El Paso Diablos looked to avoid being swept by the Wichita Wingnuts, but once again their pitching was a letdown as the Wingnuts blew the Diablos away 19-2 Sunday afternoon at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
