The El Paso Diablos came into the game looking to avoid getting swept, but the Saltdogs scored six runs in the first four innings and their pitching silenced El Paso’s offense as they earned their first sweep of the season shutting out the Diablos 9-0 Wednesday night at Haymarket Park.

The Lincoln Saltdogs jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and that was all they needed as starting pitcher John James was magnificent from the mound as he held the Diablos’ offense at bay the entire night as Lincoln defeated El Paso 7-1 Tuesday night at Haymarket Park.

The El Paso Diablos were trailing 5-4 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning with starting pitcher Reymond Cruz still on the mound, but he could not survive the eighth as five runs came across for the Saltdogs as they dropped the Diablos 10-4 Monday night at Haymarket Park.

El Paso, TX, July 18, 2011:  For the first time in history, El Paso will host a large scale music festival boasting over 30 of the world’s most famous electronic music artist on three stages Labor Day weekend. The dates for the massive 2 day festival are set for September 3rd and 4th and will be at Cohen Stadium in northeast El Paso. SMG events is well known around the region for putting on large scale events that draw crowds in the thousands and now for bringing a festival the likes of which has never been seen before in the southwest region.  In honor of El Paso’s nickname, the event has been dubbed Sun City Music Festival.  The lineup for SCMF will be released in phases every week.  One of the performers that has already been announced is Armin Van Buuren, who’s been voted the #1 DJ in the world for the past 4 years by music publications and websites from all over the world. Another attraction will be the Day Glow tent, which is a touring show that boasts being the “World’s Largest Paint Party”.

The first two games of the series could have gone either way as the Diablos came out on the losing end as they dropped both games by a run, but tonight the Diablos came out on top as they survived a Wichita rally to cling to a 5-4 victory Sunday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

The El Paso Diablos took the lead in the top of the third, but surrendered it in the bottom half in the fifth as pitching for both teams was too much for either offense as the Wingnuts squeaked out a 2-1 win Saturday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

The El Paso Diablos looked to start off on the right foot entering their nine-game road trip starting against Wichita, but after starting pitcher Scott Hodsdon gave up a game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth the game headed into extra innings.

The El Paso Diablos were leading 7-4 heading into the top of the eighth, but closer Ray Silva allowed Grand Prairie to tie the game at seven. In the bottom of the 11 inning, El Paso had the bases loaded with Alberto Espinosa at the plate and he took a 0-1 fastball over the left field fence for a walk-off grand slam home run to give the Diablos an 11-7 win Wednesday night at Cohen Stadium.

Just two years ago during the 2009 season, Dane De La Rosa was pitching for the Diablos at Cohen Stadium. Tonight marks his major league debut with the Tampa Bay Rays. De La Rosa pitched 1 inning highlighted by striking out Yankee slugger Mark Teixeira, no hits, and 2 walks.

El Paso’s starting pitcher Alex Kaminsky set the tone early as he was in control from the get go. His ability to command the strike zone allowed him to dominate from the mound as the Diablos ended their four-game losing streak as they dropped Grand Prairie 18-7 Tuesday night at Cohen Stadium.
