May 20, 2010 El Paso, TX – Fort Worth finished up their three game sweep of El Paso with a 6-5 come from behind
win at Cohen Stadium on Thursday night. The come from behind victory was the second win of that variety in the
series and with the loss, El Paso finishes just 2-5 on the home stand.
After trading runs through the first two innings, the Diablos would finally take the lead in the fifth inning when
Bryon Smith brought home Jonathan Reynoso with two outs. The Diablos added onto their lead in the sixth inning as
they were the recipient of two straight Fort Worth errors. Hector Bernal and Reynoso both came through with RBI
singles to push the Diablos lead to 5-2. That lasted until the seventh inning when the Cats came back to tie the
ball game scoring three runs. Fort Worth took the lead for good in the eighth inning when Kelley Gulledge was hit
by a pitch with the bases loaded. Dustin Cameron again sat the Diablos down in order in the ninth to preserve the
Cats’ win.
David Whigham made the start and looked like his old self again as he pitched into the seventh inning while
allowing four runs on eight hits and four strike outs. The bull pen could not hold the lead again as Earl Oakes
(0-1) took the loss by giving up two runs while pitching in the seventh and eighth innings. The offense produced
11 hits. Jonathan Reynoso led the way going 4-5 with a triple and an RBI. Bryon Smith turned in another strong performance at the plate going 2-4 with two RBI and Adam Deleo also turned in a 2-4 perfomance.
El Paso now heads out on a ten day, nine game road trip that starts in Shreveport on Friday night. Shaun Ellis
(1-0) will go for his second win in a Diablos uniform. First pitch is slated for 6:05 and can be heard on ESPN
1380 or online at Diablos.com.`
